Christmas 2021 at St Paul’s

Update 16 December

Due to the rapidly rising COVID-19 infections caused by the Omicron variant, we are reviewing all our upcoming Christmas services at St Paul Old Ford. We need to make sure that we can keep people safe and that our services are not a place where people catch the virus.

Today we have decided to cancel the nativity from scratch on 19 December, because the COVID situation is fast-moving at the moment and there’s no way we can ensure that the service is safe at this notice. Apologies for any inconvenience, but we are doing this to keep people safe.

We’ll post more information on here and on social media about other services over the next few days.

Christmas services at St Paul’s

Christmas is a very special time for us at St Paul’s.

We’re having a few Christmas services, which we would love to see you at. Please join us as we celebrate Jesus coming into the world, to be our light and help us to know God.

Like our regular Sunday services, we’re taking some precautions to protect ourselves against COVID. So if you’re attending a service, please book a place at Eventbrite (so we can manage numbers), wear a mask (especially when singing) and observe social distancing in some parts of the church.

We will be streaming most of these services too, so if you can’t attend in person, you can watch (and sing along) online. Livestream links will be available nearer the time.

12 December at 6pm: carols by candlelight

A special service that we don’t need to describe much further. We sing lots of carols, and there will be lots of candles.

Book your place at carols by candlelight.

19 December at 4pm: nativity from scratch

This event is now cancelled.

This service is especially for kids (young and old!) who want to have fun dressing up and acting out the nativity story, entirely from scratch! You might arrive not knowing who you’re  playing, but you’ll still have fun doing it!

Book your place at nativity from scratch.

24 December at 4pm: kids’ Christmas Eve service

A service especially for children and families, as we celebrate the coming of Christmas.

Book your place at the kids’ Christmas Eve service.

24 December at 11pm: midnight mass

This is our traditional Christmas Eve service, very popular with people in the community, including those coming straight from the pub! Come and sing carols and hear the Christmas story told again, as we welcome in the holy day at midnight.

Book your place at midnight mass.

25 Dec at 10:30am: Christmas Day service

Join us on Christmas morning as we celebrate the birth of Christ, the real reason for the whole season!

Book your place at the Christmas Day service.

26 Dec at 10:30am: Boxing Day service

Boxing day is a Sunday this year, so this is our ‘normal’ Sunday service. But because of everything else that has been going on in the previous day or two, this service will be shorter than usual!

Book your place at the Boxing Day service.
