Church in a different shape
Our church must be part of how our city and country protects itself from the novel coronavirus COVID-19. On 16th March the government changed tack from delaying the virus outbreak and smoothing demands on the NHS to a more comprehensive containment policy. This includes discouraging public gatherings, encouraging people to work from home, self-isolation for 14 days when a member of that household has a new persistent cough or a high temperature, and in time a voluntary protective isolation of those who are over 70, are pregnant or who have a n underlying health condition.
In line with this policy the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have today published a letter suspending public worship for the time being. They encourage us to think about being Church ‘in a different shape’ focussing on prayer and community service, rather than on Sunday.
Therefore, there will be no public acts of worship at St Paul’s or St Columba’s until further notice.
You are being prayed for at midday each day and at 10.30am on Sundays.
We are currently looking at providing additional online prayer and worship but encourage people to develop their own patterns of prayer and worship to sustain them in this unprecedented time.
If you are self-isolating please do let us know so we can pray for you, support you by phone and source food for you if required. Contact Rev. April Keech on april@stpauloldford.com
