Help us choose a new altar frontal for St Paul’s

We’re in the process of choosing a design for a new altar frontal for our church, and we’d like you to help us to decide.

We were recently left a legacy by a dear departed friend, who was part of St Paul’s for many years. We’re using the money for something that will be a lasting and obvious part of our worship and life together: a new altar frontal (which is the fabric cover on the front of the high altar in the photo above).

For this project, we’ve teamed up with the Royal School of Needlework, who have visited St Paul’s to find out more about who we are and what we do, and have come up with 5 designs. Each of these designs are in the photos below. These are the design packs the Royal School sent to us, most of which explain something about how they’ve come up with the design.

We’re very keen to hear your views about these. There is a survey, which asks you a couple of questions on what you think about each design. We’re deliberately not asking which one you like the best, because this isn’t a vote to see which is the congregation’s favourite. We’re looking for views to shape our decision.

Have a look at the pictures below (you can zoom in to see some of the details), and then fill in the survey.

We’ll be showing the designs again in church on Sunday morning. So if you’re there, you’ll get a chance to comment then too, if you’d rather do it in person.

Please submit all your comments by midnight on Sunday 28 November.
