St Columba has been nominated for the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2021

We are so pleased to share that Genesis barge, or ‘the floating church’ where our St Columba community is based, has been shortlisted for the for the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2021. The award is dedicated to the memory of the young architecture student Stephen Lawrence, who died tragically in 1993 during a racist attack in London.

The floating church, has been announced by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) as one of the six finalists for the prize. The aim of the Stephen Lawrence Prize is to give visibility and prominence to outstanding construction or renovation projects that have been particularly recognised for their skill and inventiveness.

Last month the floating church won a RIBA national award, so we’re no strangers to the awards season!

The winner of the Stephen Lawrence Prize will be announced on 14 October at the RIBA Stirling Prize awards ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.
